I met Lee while walking my son's dog Teddy. We chatted and I found out he is an Architect. He provided me with an as built preconstruction survey that was fabulous. and from there we designed a home remodel and garage. The best thing about Lee is that he understands what you are really after. I have been a successful general contractor in several different states for 30+ years. Lee is a consummate professional. When I asked to design a "Batcave Garage" he understood what I was talking about and created it. We had to redesign due to County and Feng Shui constraints and he did it again! Hidden staircase, a stage, great windows etc. He also had grand ideas to incorporate the house and yard into the new design. I would HIGHLY recommend Lee Shaw Architecture to everyone.

The first project was a cantilevered porch addition to our guest house and the other was a free-standing garage and studio addition. Starting a home remodel is a daunting task. I had never done it before and wasn't quite sure even where to start. Having a partner like Lee Shaw made everything come together and eased my anxiety. With Lee’s help we completed plans for a significant remodel of our 1960s home in Tucson. Looking at everything we wanted done, my husband and I realized what we were embarking on was a major project. Lee’s insights and responsiveness enabled us to approach the remodel in phases instead of all at once, which eased our budget (and my anxiety). Lee is a creative and insightful architect who is very attune to his client's styles, preferences and wants. He listened to me and made every effort to understand the things that are important to me and my family then used that information to put together comprehensive plans for our remodel. He came up with some ideas I wouldn't have thought of on my own but now couldn't live without. I can't say enough good words about Lee's work style, professionalism and deep client connection. I felt bad about coming to him after we had finalized our plans to ask if we could make some changes. Lee jumped right in and embraced my request and without hesitation or resistance and came through with exactly what I wanted. Lee is undoubtedly one of the nicest people and most talented architects in the greater Tucson area. I can't recommend him enough. Thanks for a successful project, Lee. I love my new kitchen. We hired Lee to help us design a guest casita for our home in Oro Valley. Working with him has been a wonderful experience. Starting with the initial consultation, Lee took the time to get to know us and truly understand what we wanted to create, in terms of both functionality and design. We worked with Lee Shaw on a large addition to our home, which included a brand-new kitchen, bathroom, and more. Working with him was absolutely fantastic. We could not recommend him more strongly. We had met with a few other people before we found Lee and everyone else seemed to either not offer enough creative ideas for us or they seemed to immediately push us way past our budget. Lee struck the perfect balance -- his creative vision is truly amazing, and he presented us with incredible designs and ideas we never could have possibly thought of. Yet he also remained mindful of our budget and respectful of our own unique style. Lee worked with us every step of the way -- designing, overseeing the construction, offering advice on the interior, etc. The addition Lee designed and oversaw turned out to be more than we had dreamed of. It blends in seamlessly with our house but also gives us a new, modern, gorgeous kitchen and living space. (We have had strangers walking by the house stop to tell us how great it looks!) In addition, Lee is just a kind, warm, and caring person. We were so happy to get to know him and to get a chance to work with him. My wife and I hired Lee late in 2017 - when we first met Lee it was clear that he was a partner that we could work well with, so we waited for him to finish some other projects before he started work on ours. Our initial impressions of Lee have only been amplified as we have worked together to achieve an elegant vision for our very large project - remodel, new building, you name it we have it. He has created a beautiful space that will begin construction very shortly. He is patient, he listens and is receptive to and creative with alternative ideas when working through the many choices, compromises, and discussions that are part of the creative process. We wanted to work with a smaller firm where we weren't just a number - and Lee has delivered in spades. Lee Shaw designed a beautiful master suite for us including a two-door entry, vestibule with a 6" tall window facing a garden, French doors and a walk-in closet. The bathroom included a large window over the tub facing the mountains, a sky light in the shower, separate toilet room, double sinks and many more amenities. He had to overcome multiple challenges and not only overcame them professionally but excelled beyond our expectations.

Lee Shaw is an artist. He will participate in the design of your project from start to finish. He truly becomes immersed in his work. We were delighted with his lighting and interior suggestions too, even though we were tackling some major reconstruction and landscaping. This is a pro and is very patient with his advice while listening carefully to what was most important to us. Truth is we should have just stepped back and let him do it all. He's just fantastic. Lee also has resources available to him straight out of the Rhode Island School of Design. Here's the takeaway from our projects with Lee: even if you need to reduce the scope of your project to incorporate his fee, do it! The results will be far better and you will end up with a space made for you. Personally, I feel he offers tremendous value and think he should charge more.

This is the third custom home we have built for our family—and by far the most rewarding experience we have had. As we were new to the Tucson area and, in fact, have never built in a desert environment. But Lee’s extensive knowledge both in Arizona and New Mexico of huge benefit to us. Lee took us through both the benefits and challenges of our site. As we began site studies and preliminary design, Lee took the time to walk us through both the benefits and challenges of our site. Vistas, topography, weather and solar considerations and various site restraints were reviewed and discussed. It seemed that what might have been seen as challenges for someone else, became opportunities for Lee—always with surprising and creative results. Finally, in addition to giving us a truly wonderful house and guest house, Lee was instrumental in providing key interior design input including lighting, hardware selection as well as heirloom quality built-in and free standing furniture pieces. It has been three years since then, and as grandchildren have blessed our family, we are now working with Lee once again on a second guest house. The result, as expected, is a beautiful addition to our family compound. It goes without saying that we would highly recommend Lee Shaw.

Imagine having an architect that can meet your expectations and go beyond to create functionality and aesthetics that you didn't anticipate. Upon describing our desires to Lee in terms of space utilization, site orientation, desired views and architecture to blend with the environment, we received an initial house design proposal that encompassed exactly what we were thinking and more. It was like having someone getting inside your head and thinking exactly like you.
